Characteristics of the Crimean Amur apricot variety and a description of the advantages and disadvantages of the tree

The breeders of the Nikitsky Botanical Garden were engaged in the breeding of the apricot variety Crimean Amur. The variety is quite frost-hardy and particularly demanding on growing conditions. Medium resistance to dry weather and fungal infections.

Description

Crimean Cupid is growing fast enough. The apricot variety is early-growing. In the fifth or sixth year, the trees begin to bear fruit. Yield indicators reach high levels.

Growing features

Before buying a seedling, special attention is paid to the trunk and bark. If cracks and dark spots are visible, then this directly indicates a weak and painful specimen. The root needs to look strong. It is better to purchase seedlings with small buds about 70 cm high.

A slightly elevated place in the garden is selected for planting, as protected as possible from the wind. For good growth, the site must be illuminated by the sun.

The soil at the planting site is loosened and pre-fertilized. Drainage is organized at the bottom.

bushy branch

Important! The root of the Crimean Cupid grows far beyond the crown circumference. Therefore, if you plan to plant several trees, it is recommended to place them at a distance of 5 meters from each other.

Care

In the growing process, you must adhere to the advice and recommendations of experienced gardeners. Then the apricot will grow faster and begin to bear fruit earlier. It is imperative to strengthen the condition of the tree at every stage.

lie in a container

The soil from the trunk circle is regularly mulched. After all, the soil becomes loose and loses its ability to retain a sufficient amount of moisture, which forces the root system of the tree to spend energy on finding additional water at depth.

Filling the Crimean Cupid is excessively contraindicated. Saplings will not be affected by this, but extra shoots will begin to form. They easily take strength from the plant, which, in turn, quickly loses in growth and yield.

mirror yellow

Before the onset of the winter period, the trees are wrapped up. Burlap or agrofiber is usually used. If the region is distinguished by more severe frosts, then a non-woven fabric is added on top for warmth.

The Crimean Cupid is required to constantly monitor and note any changes. Having found cracks on the trunk, they must be treated with garden pitch.

Prevention and treatment of diseases

In spring, the treatment of the Crimean Amur from parasites and diseases is carried out as follows:

  1. Before the buds begin to swell, sanitary pruning of trees and thinning of branches are carried out.
  2. Taking a special metal brush, they remove larvae, caterpillars, egg clutches, green lichen.
  3. Before the buds dissolve, the plants are sprayed with a 3% Bordeaux mixture. With the same solution, only with a concentration of 1%, the crown is processed 14 days after flowering. For this, copper oxychloride, "Tsineb", "Kaptan" are also used.

a plate of fruit

In the summer period (no later than 2 weeks before fruit picking), trees are sprayed with Horus, colloidal sulfur, antifungal agents.

Important! Do not use chemicals to process apricots before fruiting. It is better to use a hose to wash off pests and traces of previous spraying with water.

In autumn, after leaf fall, the trunks of apricots are treated with urea at the rate of 700 grams per 10 liters of water. In late autumn, preparations with copper are applied to the plants. In case of cold weather, iron sulfate is used.
