Description of the tomato variety Severyanin and its characteristics
Experts have developed a group of tomatoes that can withstand extreme temperature changes and bear fruit even in cold summer conditions. An example of such varieties is the Severyanin tomato. It is perfect for growing in the northern regions of Russia.
Description of "Severyanin"
Half-stem determinant ultra-early tomato variety.
The main characteristics of the plant:
- The bush is medium-sized, stocky, compact. Height from 30 cm to 60 cm.
- The leaves are small and wrinkled, dark green in color.
- Small brushes. After the 10th leaf, the first brush is laid and then every 2-3 leaves.
- The ovaries form well even at low temperatures. The inflorescences are simple, 5-6 fruits per cluster.
- The fruits ripen together. Productivity: from one bush from 4.5 kg to 6 kg.
- Increased immunity to most tomato diseases. Due to early maturity, the harvest is given before late blight appears.
The peculiarity of the variety is its amazing stability, "Severyanin" is not afraid of low temperatures and is not picky about light.
Description of fruits
Begins to bear fruit in 90-95 days after the first shoots. It differs from other standard and semi-standard ones in unusual large-fruited.
- Rounded, spherical shape.
- Fruit weight from 100 to 200 grams. The largest tomatoes gives away from the first brushes.
- Intense red inside and out.
- The skin is dense and smooth.
- The pulp is fleshy, juicy.
- The taste is sour and slightly watery.
- They lie well and are resistant to transportation.
Experienced gardeners advise, for better fruit ripening, to leave 3-4 brushes on the bushes.
Growing tips
It takes root well in open ground and tunnel-type film greenhouses. The variety is recommended for seedless planting and for growing in regions with an unstable climate.
- Sowing seeds for seedlings should be done not earlier than the second decade of April.
- Seedlings do not need additional lighting and heating.
- Planting seedlings in the ground can be started from the second decade of June.
- Due to the compactness of the plants, bushes can be planted more closely, up to 12 pieces per 1 sq. m.
- Does not require tying and forming a bush, it is enough to remove a few stepsons.
- In order to get a larger tomato yield, it is necessary to feed the plants with a mineral mixture during the active setting and pouring of fruits.
Having studied the description and reviews about the Severyanin tomato, it is easy to conclude that this variety is ideal for cultivation in those regions of the country where it is most difficult to grow capricious tomato crops, due to the cold climate and short summer period.
Reviews
Alina:
The bushes grew small, did not exceed 30 cm, they did without pinching. They began to bear fruit early, but the tomatoes did not please or surprise in size. The largest tomato weighed about 150 grams, mostly small ones of 50-70 grams were collected. The taste was also not impressed, but they are well stored, lie for a long time and do not deteriorate.
Tamara:
I planted tomatoes of this variety for the first time, grown in OG and they immediately pleased me with excellent yield. The very first offspring weighed 150-200 grams.
E. Grinina:
I was struck by the frost resistance of the variety. May was cold, and summer did not spoil with warmth. The tomatoes had to be planted later, but the harvest exceeded all expectations! The tomatoes are smooth, large and yield almost one and a half times more than expected. Next year I will plant Severyanin again.
Alexander:
I planted "Severyanin" for the first time, the variety has proven itself very well. The ovaries form perfectly in all weather conditions. Didn't get sick.
