Description and characteristics of the tomato variety Pink Magic f1
Another novelty has entered the market - the Pink Magic f1 tomato. As the name suggests, the description of this variety has glossy, flat-round fruits of a rich pink color. Fruit weight 200-250 grams, which is quite large in size. The pulp of the fruit is fleshy, with a tart sweet taste. Great for fresh consumption.
The presented hybrid variety has excellent high temperature tolerance. The effectiveness of fruit setting does not depend much on the unfavorable conditions in which the tomato can be grown, which indicates a high yield of the variety. In addition, pink magic f1 tomatoes are resistant to cracking, as indicated by customer reviews, they have good shelf life during storage and transportation. A photo of the bush can be seen below.
Advantages and disadvantages of indeterminate varieties
Pink Magic f1 tomatoes are an indeterminate hybrid. Such varieties of tomatoes are distinguished by unlimited growth of the main stem. For the gardener, this means that in southern climatic zones or in heated greenhouses, such tomatoes can grow for more than a calendar year, having time to bring a crop of up to 50 brushes during the fruiting period. Bushes of tomatoes such as Pink Magic must be formed by removing absolutely all stepchildren, leaving only the main stem.
Since indeterminate varieties bloom after the release of 9-12 true leaves, with the laying of peduncles after every third leaf, in order to obtain the greatest yield, it is necessary to provide the bush with a fairly long daylight hours and space for the maximum number of ovaries on the stem.
When choosing one variety of tomato, you need to take into account the region of your residence. In southern regions with a mild climate and long daylight hours, Pink Magic can be grown both in the greenhouse and in the open field, tying the tomatoes to trellises or high supports as they grow.
IMPORTANT: In central Russia and a little further north, where the average summer temperature does not exceed 23 degrees, this hybrid can be grown only in greenhouses, preferably in heated ones. In northern regions with short daylight hours, it is better not to grow indeterminate varieties, since, due to late flowering and fruiting, they will not have time to fully reveal the variety's potential.
Disease resistance
The Pink Magic hybrid is resistant to the most common tomato diseases that often upset gardeners, because they simply negate all efforts to get a good harvest. These are diseases such as:
- mold fungus Alternaria;
- bacterial spotting or dwarf bushiness of tomato;
- gray leaf spot;
- fusarium rot of the root collar and roots;
- verticillary wilting of tomato.
However, the resistance to these diseases introduced into the varietal characteristics of the variety is by no means a guarantee of 100% protection against them. Prevention is necessary, just an order of magnitude less effort will be required to carry it out, since the seeds themselves have already been treated with the fungicide Thiram.
Bacterial spotting or dwarf bushiness of tomato affects the planting material, so there is only one prevention here - do not plant diseased plants. The causative agents of other tomato diseases - Alternaria, Fusarium, Verticillium - are fungi. The pathogens are in the soil, on plant debris in the form of mycelium and can wait in the wings for several years.
Disease prevention measures
- Use only healthy seedlings;
- Plant tomatoes in soil where vegetables or strawberries have not grown 4-5 years before;
- Spraying with fungicides, for example, 5% copper sulfate solution, copper oxychloride, Fundazol, Topsin-M;
- Irradiation by sunlight, that is, thinning plantings from stepchildren, observing the density of planting tomatoes.
Agrotechnics
Pink magic, like everyone else indeterminate tomatoesare grown through seedlings. Seedlings are sown 50-55 days before placing it in a permanent place. This is roughly the first half of March. Pink magic responds to slightly acidic soils, so it is best to sow seeds in a lightly tamped peat layer. After abundant watering, it is recommended to cover the container with foil and leave it for seedlings in a dark place. As soon as seedlings appear, the film must be removed, and the germinated seeds must be placed in a bright place.
IMPORTANT: In the first week, it is important not to overheat the seedlings, the optimum temperature is 20 degrees.
Since the hybrid is distinguished by a powerful developed structure of the bush, it is advisable to dive seedlings at the stage of release of the second true leaf. It is optimal to plant tomato seedlings in a permanent place when the earth warms up to 16 degrees. By this time the seedlings will have reached 45 days of age. In greenhouses, seedlings can be planted at the age of 35 days or in the first half of April.
To create comfortable conditions, plant Pink Magic no more than 2-3 bushes per square meter. When they are in full force and have set the first fruit, the bushes require feeding with sodium-potassium fertilizers. Under favorable conditions for the hybrid, the ratio of sodium to potassium is sufficient 1: 2; in hot and dry periods, the ratio must be increased to 1: 3 in favor of potassium.
With these simple steps, the new f1 hybrid Pink Magic will delight you with a bountiful harvest of juicy and tasty tomatoes.
That year planter tomato pink magic. I am very satisfied. At the end of summer, the tops of all tomatoes became withered. And only the pink magic stood green before the frost, not a single fruit turned black! In September, she took off the last unripe fruits. Everything is ripe at home, very tasty, sweet. Unfortunately this year I did not find seeds for sale! It's a pity, the tomato is wonderful!
