Characteristics and description of the variety of tomato Brandy pink, its yield
Pink tomatoes are traditionally a salad variety, primarily due to the large size of the fruit. But Brandy pink tomato is also distinguished by its excellent taste, which is appreciated by gardeners at its true worth and has earned only positive reviews.
Tomatoes do not have a single axial stem. A series of successive shoots, which are also called stepchildren, are mistaken for him. It is conventionally accepted to call the main stem on which the first inflorescence is formed.
Characteristics of the tomato variety "Brandy pink"
Variety "Brandy pink" is intended for cultivation in closed ground for an average climatic zone. In the southern regions, it grows in the open air.
This is what its main characteristics look like:
- early ripening variety with a ripening period of 85-100 days and a phased period of tomato ripening at different levels;
- medium-sized plant, up to 1.5-1.8 meters tall, with an indeterminate stem type;
- medium branching, potato-type leaf, pubescent, smooth, green;
- the variety forms inflorescences above the level of 9-12 leaves;
- ripening is gradual, as tomatoes ripen on clusters of various levels;
- fruits are flat-rounded, with slight ribbing at the base. Weight is impressive, from 250 to 450 grams;
- the pulp is very soft, juicy, multi-chamber with a small amount of seeds;
- the skin is smooth, thin, pale pink;
- the taste of tomato is just excellent, sweet, reminiscent of a watermelon;
- use tomatoes as salad and cooking tomato semi-finished products: juices, pastes, ketchups.
Unlimited growth varieties have their advantages and disadvantages. They must be tied up and a number of measures are taken to form a bush. At the same time, such tomatoes give a larger yield, which is characterized by a gradual ripening of fruits.
With a lack of moisture, the set fruits begin to ripen quickly. Under stress, the plant tries to reproduce seeds faster and gets rid of the reproductive parts that draw on nutrients. The plant massively drops flowers and formed ovaries.
Features of growing and care
The rules of leaving are fairly standard. Here is a quick rundown of the basic care for plants with unlimited growth.
- Tomatoes are thermophilic plants and in most cases are grown in seedlings. With short growing seasons, seeds are sown for seedlings in mid-March.
- Seedlings dive with the appearance of 2 permanent leaves in separate containers or in boxes, with a planting scheme of 10x10 cm.
- Care comes down to timely watering, feeding and compliance with temperature and light conditions. All these measures will allow you to grow strong and healthy seedlings suitable for early planting in a greenhouse.
- Tomatoes are planted in a permanent place in mid-May, at 60 days of age. Planting density no more than 3 bushes per square meter. Plants are tied to stakes, trellises, or garden netting to provide support for the main stem.
- In large-fruited tall tomatoes, the plant is formed into one stem. Remove stepchildren and dying leaves on the lower part of the plant, up to the first brush. This promotes increased air circulation, preventing the possibility of fungal diseases.
- After the formation of 6-8 brushes, they restrict the growth of the bush, cutting off the shoot at the top point, after three leaves above the ovary. The stepsons growing from the leaf axils are regularly removed, leaving a stump of 3-4 cm.
- Watering should be moderate, followed by loosening the top layer. Loosening prevents the soil from drying out and improves air exchange. The stem is covered with earth to improve the nutrition of the roots at the base.
- The optimum temperature should be 24-26 degrees. It is desirable to maintain humidity not higher than 70%. This is achieved by regular ventilation. It is important to observe the humidity indicator during the period of mass flowering.
- Top dressing of tomatoes is carried out every three weeks, choosing the composition of the fertilizer depending on the state of the plants and the stage of development.
Harvesting begins at the end of July and continues until the end of the growing season. Up to 5-6 kg of tomatoes are harvested from one plant. Green fruits ripen well at home.
