Description of the tomato variety Miracle Altai, features of cultivation and care
The Altai Miracle tomato was bred by specialists in the last years of the last century, and today the plant is in the state register of the best breeding achievements. The specialists set themselves the goal of creating tomatoes that would be able to show a high yield in the climate of Siberian regions. Thanks to the efforts of specialists, a variety has appeared, called the Miracle of Altai. The description of the variety speaks of possible cultivation in greenhouses and open field conditions.
The characteristic of the tomato refers it to the interdeterminant type, that is, the growth of the main stem occurs constantly. In the open field, the height of the bush varies from 1.3 to 1.6 meters. In a greenhouse, this value may be slightly higher. Due to its high growth, the plant must be tied up, while the supports must be higher than the growth of the main trunks.
The plant has powerful trunks, characterized by good strength and a shade of emerald green foliage. The Altai variety has a good fruit setting ability at low temperatures. The bush perfectly withstands the weight of the fruit and does not break, so additional tying of the hands is not required.
Fruit characteristics
Gardeners' reviews confirm the excellent characteristics of the tomato. The first brushes form large tomatoes, the average weight of which reaches from 300 to 350 grams. A high yield of fruits occurs on the second wave. At the same time, the average weight is slightly reduced and ranges from 150 to 200 grams. Unripe tomatoes have a small dark spot near the stalk, which disappears as the fruit ripens.
If it is necessary to transport vegetables, they are harvested in a slightly immature form.
The deep red fruits are oval-shaped. The pulp of the vegetable harmoniously combines density with tenderness and juiciness. The taste of the tomato is sweetish with a slight sourness. The number of seed chambers on average ranges from 5 to 7.
When and how does maturation take place?
The Miracle of Altai belongs to mid-season varieties in terms of ripening characteristics. The first fruits are removed 90 days after the first shoots appear. Fruiting lasts a long time and is distinguished by the full value of the return. Brushes with tomatoes ripen in waves.
The tomato has a high yield. For greenhouse cultivation at 1 m2 accounts for 10 to 15 kg of vegetables. One bush of a plant produces on average 4 to kg of vegetables. In open field conditions, yields are slightly lower, but in good weather conditions they can correspond to the values of greenhouse cultivation.
Advantages and disadvantages
The variety is unusually resistant to low temperatures and environmental factors. The seeds have a high germination rate, which reaches 99.8%, and the seedlings tolerate diving well. Stress tolerance is superior to that of some hybrid varieties. Reviews of gardeners speak of the following advantages of the variety:
- has the ability to grow continuously, which does not stop even with a sharp temperature drop;
- regardless of weather conditions, the formation of ovaries occurs;
- good yields when grown not only in a greenhouse, but also in open ground.
Due to these advantages, the variety provides an excellent yield indicator regardless of the oddities of the weather. Gardeners' reviews confirm the versatility of the variety. The ability to ripen in waves facilitates the processing of the crop. The only drawback is the plant's intolerance to waterlogging of the soil.
The nuances of growing
Growing and caring for a plant does not differ from generally accepted rules. It is recommended to adhere to the following tips:
- seedlings are planted in the ground with an age of at least 2 months;
- the planting scheme assumes 3 seedlings for open ground per 1 m², 4 for greenhouse conditions;
- the plant needs tying and pinching;
- the bushes need to provide sufficient ventilation.
To rid the plant of pests and traditional diseases of the tomato will help periodic spraying with drugs, disinfecting the soil and crop rotation. Gardeners' reviews speak of the possibility of obtaining a good harvest with a minimum investment of time and effort.
At home this variety is called "Biyskaya rose", I don't know why. It just happened. Bioactivator has been used since last season BioGrow - and the tomatoes seem to have grown even larger than usual. And the harvest is definitely more than in the previous season.
And where did you get the idea that this particular variety is called the Biysk rose? Biysk rosan is a completely different variety.
I grew in a greenhouse for two seasons, very tasty, beautiful fruits. But cladosporiosis raged on it. This year did not plant. I will repeat it next year with my seeds.
Another lie. According to the State Register of Breeding Achievements, the Altai Chudo tomato is determinant (and not at all indeterminate, as it is falsely written in the article), which, given the growth of plants, means that this tomato is more of a semi-determinant type (because semi-determinant varieties in the register are indicated in the same way as determinant ). And mid-ripeness denotes the period from germination to ripening of the first fruits 110-120 days, and not 90 at all, as it is falsely written in the article.
