Description of the tomato variety Irene, features of cultivation and care
The Irene f1 tomato combines the best qualities of tomatoes: high yield, good immunity, pleasant taste. What does a tomato look like and how to grow it?
Description
Irene f1 is a mid-season indeterminate variety. From the emergence of seedlings to the collection of the first fruits, 100-105 days pass. Like all tall tomato varieties, the hybrid needs to be shaped and tied. The bushes are densely covered with medium-sized leaves familiar to tomatoes, which are painted in a rich green color.
After pollination, cylindrical fruits are formed on simple inflorescences. Tomato peel is smooth, firm. Unripe tomatoes are light green, while ripe tomatoes are bright red. The pulp is juicy, sweet. If the technology of growing crops is observed, the fruits weigh 95-110 g. When grown in greenhouses, the yield of the variety is 8 kg / m. sq.
In the course of crossing, the breeders endowed the hybrid with good immunity to most tomato diseases, including verticillosis, fusarium.
Due to their structure and high taste, tomatoes are suitable for fresh consumption and pickling in marinade and tomato juice. The variety is intended for cultivation in open and closed ground.
Features of growing and care
A hybrid, like all other varieties of tomatoes, does not require any special conditions. The first thing to do is sow the seeds. To do this, 50–55 days before planting, the seedling container is filled with a moist substrate, and then made on the surface using a ruler, grooves with a depth of 2–3 cm.
After the end of sowing, the container is covered with glass and placed in a warm, bright place. To prevent mold from appearing on the soil, the shelter is removed daily for 30-60 minutes. When the seedlings are 7 days old, the glass is removed, gradually increasing the time in the open state. Those who have planted tomatoes at least once confirm that, thanks to this scheme, the seedlings are not pulled out.
Of course, it is difficult to underestimate the importance of sowing, however, in order for young shoots to turn into healthy fertile bushes, they need to be looked after.
So that the characteristics of the hybrid do not turn out to be empty words, you need to perform the following garden manipulations:
- Watering. For the normal development of tomatoes of the Irene f1 variety, a lot of moisture is not needed. In dry weather, water under the plants is applied once a week, and when moderate precipitation periodically falls out, watering is not carried out at all. Please note that drought is not as terrible for the culture as excess moisture. It is the increased humidity in tandem with a low temperature that is the main catalyst for fungal diseases.
- Picking. You can plant the bushes in separate pots after the formation of 2-3 true leaves. Tomatoes are transplanted to the garden at the age of 5–6 leaves.
- Garter. Since the description contains information that the hybrid belongs to the group of tall tomatoes, pegs are placed in a permanent place near the plants 7–10 days after planting. So that the stem is not injured during a strong gusty wind, elastic twines or strips of old tights are used to attach to the support.
- Top dressing. Among the fertilizers, the best are mineral mixtures, calcium nitrate and organic solutions. For greater efficiency, root dressing is combined with spraying on the leaf. To feast on healthy tomatoes, you need to carefully add nitrogen.
