Description of the variety
Townsville fruit is usually expected to ripen two months after the seedlings are planted in boxes or pots. The plant belongs to:
- determinant;
- medium branched;
- medium-leafy;
- early maturing.
Tomato bushes can be up to 1 meter or more in height. The foliage is the most common, standard, light green.
The inflorescence is laid over 5-6 leaves, all subsequent ones - through 2 leaves.
Townsville tomato fruits grow quite large, round in shape. Inside you can find from four or more chambers with seeds. The average weight of one fruit is from 200 to 250 grams.
The characteristics of ripe tomato fruits are as follows: the taste is great, the fruits themselves are juicy, the color is bright red. After plucking from the bush, they can be stored for up to three weeks.
The Townsville hybrid has a high yield, as well as resistance to major tomato diseases. The described culture of the nightshade family is not at all afraid of such formidable diseases as verticillosis and fusarium. If the growing process is going well, then up to 10 kilograms of tomatoes can be removed from one square meter per season.
Fruits tolerate transportation even over long distances normally.
Agrotechnical operations
Townsville tomato seeds are sown in March in slightly compacted soil with the addition of peat. They have already been processed with special compounds, and therefore do not need soaking. Description of further actions: early shoots are sprayed with warm water through a strainer and kept on the windowsill. With the appearance of the first leaves, the seedlings dive. After the end of the night frosts in May, tomato seedlings are transplanted either into a greenhouse, or a little later into open ground.
After the bush reaches its maximum height and the fruits begin to ripen, the plants are tied up so that the branches do not break off under the weight of the tomato.
To get a high yield of tomatoes, the gardener will have to work hard in the summer season: fight pests and weeds, loosen and fertilize the soil in time.
