In 2007, the State Register of Breeding Achievements was replenished with the hybrid tomato Ural F1. The sonorous name hints at the fact that the breeding novelty is hardy and unpretentious, capable of tangible returns even in the difficult climatic conditions of the Ural region. The first reviews of the Ural F1 tomato allow us to conclude that the variety is harvested in any Russian greenhouses, from St. Petersburg to the Far East.
The agricultural firm "Gavrish" decided to draw attention to the new hybrid with the help of a small publicity stunt. On the bags of the “1 + 1” series (where 25 seeds are put, not 10 seeds, as usual), a spectacular variety name appeared - the Ural Super F1 tomato. In fact, this is the same tomato, with the same characteristics. No deception, just an enthusiastic recognition of the authors' love for their breeding success.

Fruit
Tomatoes of the Ural F1 variety in the first clusters weigh 330 - 370 grams. Only three such tomatoes are stretched per kilogram or even more. The average weight of the fruit for all collections is 200 grams. Most of the hybrid varieties are not large-fruited, and Ural F1 is a rare exception.

Plant dimensions
The characteristic of the variety as indeterminate predetermines such features as unlimited growth of the tomato upward, the laying of a large number of brushes, and long-term fruiting. The height of the plant is comparable to the height of the greenhouse ceiling.
The vegetable grower himself limits the growth of the stem for the Ural F1 tomato, pinching the top at a reasonable height - when it hits the ceiling or before the end of the greenhouse season. Actively growing lateral shoots are able to thicken the bush if they are not removed in time. The leaf apparatus is formed large and very powerful, it needs thinning.
Fruiting
The fruit cluster of the Ural F1 tomato is simple, not branched, bears 3 - 4 tomatoes each. The barrel mount is durable. Even pound brushes do not break, do not need additional fasteners. For a long greenhouse season, the bush is able to lay 7 – 10 complete brushes. Within one cluster, tomatoes are evened in size, ripen at the same time.
Such a large and dense tomato cannot be poured too early. Ural F1 is mid-season. The first crop ripens 115 - 116 days after the first shoots appear.
Plants enter the phase of active fruiting on days 120 - 125. In any region, the yield of the crop can last until late autumn: the specific dates depend on the temperature regime of the greenhouse.
The yield of the hybrid tomato Ural F1 is potentially very high and directly depends on the level of agricultural technology. Mass plantings in large greenhouse areas bring 8 - 9 kg per square meter. For a large salad variety, this is a very good indicator. An amateur vegetable grower who can pay a lot of attention to each plant can get 4 - 5 kg from each bush.
Record harvests are collected in the heated greenhouse - 7 - 8 kg from one tomato bush.
Climatic adaptability
Ural F1 hybrid tomato is unique in its adaptability to the temperature range. It is not in vain that it is called "Ural" - accustomed to cold snaps. The bushes are actively increasing their yield even in simple film greenhouses, in cool summers and cloudy weather. Do not lose ovaries when overheated. Tomato calmly reacts to changes in temperature and humidity. Practically does not produce ugly and burst fruits.
Disease resistance
Trump cards such as the duration of fruiting and high yields may not work due to an infectious attack on the tomato plant. Successful disease resistance is the most important indicator for a tall tomato.

The variety is generally not affected by the tobacco mosaic virus, which does not respond to any treatment. In addition, the Ural F1 tomato does not suffer from fusarium wilting. The crop can be grown environmentally friendly, without chemical treatments.
Ural F1 is a powerful tomato, hardy and not too capricious. However, it realizes its solid potential only indoors and with proper care.
Agricultural requirements
The main task when working with the Ural F1 tomato is to ensure uninterrupted power supply, direct it to the full formation of large and tasty fruits:
- Young plants are prone to stretching, therefore, in the seedling period, they are in dire need of good sunlight or supplementary lighting.Tomato picking is carried out at the stage of the first true leaf.
- The normal age of seedlings for transplanting into a greenhouse is 55 days. Undergrown or overgrown plants will not provide a full harvest.
- Planting scheme: 60x40 cm. The planted tomato bushes are immediately tied up.
- The Ural F1 hybrid needs a soil enriched with a complex of organic and mineral fertilizers. Soils with low acidity are deoxidized in advance.
- Growing a full-fledged crop requires additional fertilizing (weekly), regular moderate watering (2 times a week). Mulching is highly desirable.
- Timely pinching is the most important agrotechnical technique when working with the Ural F1 tomato. The plant is kept strictly in 1 or 2 stems, no more. In the middle of the growing season, the lower leaves are removed. At the end of the season, pinch the top.
It should always be remembered that while there are no tomatoes that are absolutely resistant to late blight. It is necessary to provide for all the necessary measures to prevent this scourge.
