Description and characteristics of the tomato variety General
Tomato "General F1" was bred by the specialists of the Japanese breeding company "Sakata seeds corp" (the first Japanese seed company). It is successfully grown by vegetable growers in our country. This hybrid is early maturing, determinant, productive, bred for planting in open ground, but also showed itself well when cultivated on sheltered soils.
The period from sowing seeds in the soil to the ripening of the first fruits is 100-105 days. The growing season is accelerated: 60-70 days.
Description of the variety: The bush is not tall (it grows up to 75 cm), the internodes are short, the inflorescence is simple. The stem is thick. The leaf is pinnate, dark green. The first inflorescence is formed over the 4th leaf. Each inflorescence has about 4-6 fruits, the weight of which can reach 200-240 grams. It is not necessary to remove the stepchildren from the General F1 tomato variety, however, in order to grow a strong bush, it is formed into two stems.
Another positive characteristic of this variety is the ability to form high-quality fruiting inflorescences, even in dry and hot weather. Tomato "General" over-yielding variety: from 1 sq. m. you can get up to 12 kg of harvest.
Fruit characteristics
Tomatoes of the "General F1" variety have a pronounced taste and aroma with a pleasant sourness. The shape of this tomato is round, without ribbing, slightly flattened at the top and bottom. On the cut, the fruits are red without white fibers, moderately juicy, covered with a thin delicate skin.
"Red General" has earned only positive reviews about its food qualities. These tomatoes are used mainly fresh, as well as in the preparation of tomato juice, lecho, sauces and adjika.
Tomatoes "General F1" do not crack and show themselves perfectly when preserved. Suitable for pickling, both green and ripe.
After harvesting, with an average degree of ripeness, the fruits of this tomato variety lie up to two weeks without losing their presentation. These tomatoes can be stored green for up to 2 months. Well transported.
Growing features
Depending on when the harvest is planned, the sowing of this variety of tomatoes is carried out either for seedlings in film-type shelters (for early harvests) or directly on the ground (for later harvests).
The advantages over competitive varieties are that General F1 tomatoes are good for the secondary planting of tomatoes after harvesting early carrots, cabbage, young potatoes, onions, etc.
Disease resistance and handling
An important characteristic of the variety is disease resistance. It does not get sick with the tomato mosaic virus, is resistant to tomato bronzing, alternaria, gray spot, fusarium rash, yellow leaf rolling virus, and is resistant to spotted, verticillary wilting virus.
Tomatoes become more resistant to fungal infections if mineral fertilizers containing potassium, magnesium and nitrogen salts are used.
You can use folk remedies to achieve a better tomato yield: wood ash (as a solution, or simply dusting the soil under the bushes), bird droppings or mullein (a solution for wet feeding).
