Characteristics of the tomato variety Spetsnaz, reviews of summer residents
The spetsnaz tomato received its sonorous name for being the result of purposeful selection selection. Old large-fruited varieties are not always productive, especially in the harsh Siberian conditions. The new “special-purpose” tomato combines record weight of fruit and excellent performance. It can be successfully grown not only in Siberia, but also in other regions of the Russian Federation (North-West, Moscow region, Volga region, Ural, Far East).
Siberian novelty
The well-known Novosibirsk scientist-tomato scientist Vladimir Nikolaevich Dederko created the special forces tomatoes. These vegetables were subject to mandatory testing in the open ground and in greenhouses of farms near Novosibirsk and Altai. Then they were grown in other parts of the country. The research took several years.
Excellent test results allowed in 2016 to issue a state patent for the Spetsnaz variety. He was officially recognized as an outstanding achievement of Russian breeding. In 2017, this new product was recorded in the Seed Register. The tomato is recommended for all regions of Russia where tomato cultivation is possible.
Breeder V.N.Dederko carries out author's control over the production of seeds. The only official seller of Spetsnaz tomatoes is the Novosibirsk agricultural firm "Siberian Garden". Spetsnaz is not a hybrid, so every gardener can get his own varietal seeds from it. They are taken from typical second bunch tomatoes taken from the most productive bushes.
Giant fruit
The main advantage of Spetsnaz is huge fleshy tomatoes. Powerful bushes are heavily loaded with crops. A detailed description of the variety reveals its other advantages.
The weight of tomatoes varies widely. In July, truly gigantic fruits grow on the first brushes - each from half a kilogram to a kilogram. To achieve a record weight, 1 - 2 ovaries are left in the lower hands. Altai vegetable grower Dronova Lyubov Petrovna has grown a special forces tomato weighing 1200 grams on her mini-farm.
In August, the Special Forces issues the second wave of the harvest. During this period, the average weight of the fruit is 220 - 230 grams. Other features of the variety:
- Clusters are simple, not branched, bear 3 - 5 fruits each.
- The shape of the tomatoes is classic round, flattened at the top and bottom. Ribbing is weak.
- The color of the fruit is crimson-red.
- The skin is smooth, firm, does not crack.
- Taste characteristics are excellent. An excellent balance of sugars and organic acids is observed. The flesh is quite firm, but not coarse. There are few seeds in the fruits.
- Appointment, first of all, salad. However, ripe tomatoes are not too mature, so they are processed into juices, ketchups, lecho and other preparations.
Two waves of fruiting is a special selection achievement, embodied in the modern Spetsnaz variety.
Bush type
The author of the variety, V.N. Dederko, notes that the special forces are better at not in greenhouse conditions, but in street beds. The tomato turned out to be military unpretentious and strong, like a special forces soldier.
The height of indeterminate plants in the open field is one and a half meters. The garter requires the installation of strong stakes or trellises. The leaf apparatus is of moderate length and density. Stepsons are growing actively and require regular removal.
If the Spetsnaz variety is nevertheless placed in a greenhouse, it is necessary to organize good end-to-end ventilation and protection from infections. It should not be allowed to be too hot, otherwise the tomatoes will not tie.
Harvesting
A large-fruited variety cannot be early, but Spetsnaz is also not considered late. The ripening period for tomatoes is average. The first wave of fruits grows rather quickly. They must be removed in early August to ensure the development of the second wave of ovaries. The output from one square meter is 5 - 10 kg, depending on agricultural technology.
The yield is stable over the years, little depends on the vagaries of bad weather. The variety is resistant to cold snaps, but not too hardy to fungal diseases. Needs protection against Alternaria, Cladosporiosis and Phytophthora.
The experience of amateur gardeners
Reviews of vegetable growers about the new Spetsnaz variety are still few in number. Mass tests are yet to come. Those who planted this tomato in the 2017 season are mostly Siberians. Growers celebrate the excellent taste of tomatoes despite the rainy summer.
Savchenko Roman Antonovich (Omsk region): “In the summer of 2017, we planted several new products from the Siberian Garden. Most of all liked the Spetsnaz tomatoes. The package said that you can get a double harvest. And so it happened. At the very beginning of August, we removed all the large fruits, and by September many more tomatoes had grown, only smaller ones. Not all ripened on the vine, but then blushed well. "
Anna Kupriyanova (Altai Territory): “Our family loves large tomatoes, so I planted several varieties, where they promised a record weight. The first brushes at the Spetsnaz were the largest. He had only two tomatoes per kilogram. The salads were eaten in bowls. All this grew without a greenhouse, only the bushes were fed abundantly - with manure and mineral fertilizers. "
Features of agricultural technology
The Spetsnaz tomato variety is not for lazy gardeners. It is necessary to work hard to get the "double" crop promised by breeders:
- The seedlings should be 2 months old when transplanted to a permanent location.
- On one square meter of the bed, there are 3 plants. You cannot thicken it.
- Bushes and fruit brushes are tied to strong supports.
- Spetsnaz tomatoes lead into one stalk, removing all stepchildren early.
- Closer to the end of the season, pinch the top.
- The variety needs preventive treatments for diseases.
- Regular watering is required.
- Top dressing is carried out every week, alternating organic and mineral fertilizers. The variety needs higher doses of potassium, magnesium and boron. On acidic soils, fruiting is weak.
Siberian selection tomatoes are loved by gardeners all over the country. According to its characteristics, the new Spetsnaz tomato promises to become one of the best large-fruited varieties. It requires special attention, which pays off with an excellent harvest.
