Description of the tomato variety Vostok, features of cultivation and care
One of the best Central Asian varieties of vegetable crops is the Vostok tomato. The plant was obtained in 1977 by Uzbek breeders of the Research Institute for Fruit and Vegetable Growing. In 2015, the variety was included in the State Register for cultivation in different regions of the Russian Federation. As practice has shown, the Vostok tomato variety has proven itself well in personal subsidiary plots, both when grown indoors and outdoors.
Description of the variety
The Vostok variety is one of the ten best tomato crops in Russia in terms of its qualities. The vegetable culture received such a merit for its early maturity and high yield, which is about 1.5 times higher than its predecessors.
The growing season from seed germination to the final ripening period of fruits is 100–110 days. The yield of the variety can reach more than 6 kg. from one bush.
General description of the variety:
- The bush is compact, with a weak main stem.
- The plant is low-leafed.
- The leaves are long, with an uneven surface, dark green in color.
- Plant height in greenhouse conditions reaches about 1 m, in open ground - 60-70 cm.
- Bookmark flower brushes, every 1-2 sheets.
- Up to 12 ovaries are formed on the bush.
Tomato is characterized by amicable setting and ripening of fruits, even in adverse weather conditions.

- Seeds for seedlings are sown in wooden boxes in mid-March.
- When 2-3 true leaves are formed on the seedlings, a pick is carried out.
- At the end of April, the seedlings are planted in greenhouses, in open ground, they are transplanted at the end of May, beginning of June.
- Before planting, the soil is treated with bleach.
- Seedlings are planted according to the scheme 60x70 cm.
- Before planting seedlings, it is recommended to fill the hole with straw and compost.
- When planting, the seedlings do not deepen, only its roots are buried.
At the end of the work, the bushes are tied to a support and watered with warm water.
