Description of the tomato variety Irish liqueur and its characteristics
Green tomatoes are still exotic for gardeners. Tomato Irish liquor exhibits excellent taste and unexpected color. The berry is very different from its girlfriends. It is worth taking a chance and planting at least a couple of bushes for trial.
What to expect for gardeners
Breeders bred the tomato for greenhouses. The plant lives wonderfully in heated and unheated greenhouses. Temporary film shelters are suitable in areas with long, hot summers.
Distinctive features of the variety:
- tall indeterminate tomato;
- maximum height 1.5 m;
- medium early (from sprouted sprouts to the first tomatoes 120 days);
- low-leafed bush;
- medium-sized plates, light green;
- the first brush originates over the 9th leaf;
- in a brush from 3 to 5 tomatoes;
- the plant is prone to fruit overload;
- with competent agricultural technology, it is possible to get up to 4.5 kg / m².
Irish liquor is picky about the humidity in the greenhouse. At a high concentration of water vapor, the ovaries of the variety fall off, at a low concentration, the pollen of flowers is sterilized.
What will delight Liqueur
The unexpected color is not the only virtue of the tomato. Fruit characteristics:
- rounded berry, squeezed from below and above;
- unripe tomato is dark green, ripe - light with blurry yellow stripes;
- the weight of one tomato is up to 250 g;
- the stem comes off easily;
- extended ripening of tomatoes;
- the pulp is dense, juicy, fleshy;
- high content of poly and mono sugars;
- up to 6 seed chambers;
- small seeds;
- dense skin of tomatoes.
Irish liquor attracts gardeners with the possibility of obtaining their own seeds. The very first ripe fruit should be cut, spoon out the pulp from the chambers with a spoon. Place in a fine mesh sieve, rinse the contents with cold running water, then dry on a napkin. Place the material in a paper bag, write the name of the variety and the year of collection.
How to achieve your goal
The task of any gardener is to get a harvest of delicious tomatoes without loss. This requires following the recommendations of the breeders:
- start making seedlings no later than the second decade of March;
- soil temperature during sowing and before germination: from 20 to 25 ⁰С;
- feed young plants several times with seedling complexes;
- the temperature after germination should not exceed 18 ⁰С;
- put the seedlings on a light, cool windowsill, illuminate until 18 hours;
- tomatoes are transferred to an unheated greenhouse from May 25 to June 10 (after late spring frosts);
- planting according to the scheme: 3 plants / m²;
- add the mineral complex to the soil according to the manufacturer's recommendation;
- mulching beds with non-woven black material or rotted organic matter (compost, grass, straw);
- organize drip irrigation to optimize water consumption;
- weed the bushes of the variety regularly;
- ventilate the greenhouse (tomatoes are not afraid of drafts);
- prevent the air from overheating (on hot days, throw in a white non-woven material);
- form into 2-3 stems;
- pinch every week;
- remove leaves over ripe fruits;
- tie up stems, brushes with growth;
- feed with complex mineral fertilizers;
- remove brown fruits.
Some gardeners are addicted to applying nitrogen to the soil before planting. Irish liqueur with such an attitude fattens, does not tie the fruit.
Gardeners' verdict
The description of the tomato fully corresponds to reality. Gardeners like: unusual color, sweet taste, productivity, extended fruiting. Some daredevils grow Irish liqueur outdoors. 1-2 bushes are planted: berries are enough for the whole family.
The fruits are used for making salads, slices. The juice has original color, dense texture and sugar taste. The short shelf life of tomatoes upsets people. Tomatoes soften and rot.
