Characteristics and description of the tomato variety Sevruga or Pudovik, its yield
There is a tomato that can be said to have two names - "Sevryuga" and "Pudovik". According to a number of sources, they are synonyms of the same variety, but only the last is in the state register of breeding achievements.
It was bred in Russia and registered only 10 years ago as a variety for cultivation by amateurs, both on open land and under film. The originators are the authors themselves, who have created many other varieties of this culture.
About the description of the variety
The main characteristic of these tomatoes is an indeterminate and medium early variety. This tomato ripens for about 110 days. As for the bush, it is large and dense. On average, it grows in open ground up to one and a half meters or slightly higher, and in greenhouses - up to two and a half meters. Stitching and garter to the support are required. It is recommended to form plants in one and two stems for best results.
Tomatoes "Sevruga" have a large leaf of a traditional green hue, and the tops are very similar to those of a potato. The culture is branchy and easily lays under its own weight. And the inflorescence is a simple brush, a stalk with an articulation.
The yield of this tomato variety is high, from one bush you can get about five kilograms of culture, or three times more from one square meter.
We characterize the fruits
It is no coincidence that one of the names of the described variety is tomato Pudovik, but it is connected precisely with the characteristics of the fruits, which include:
- Large fruit size, on average - half a kilo, sometimes reaching a whole kilogram. And there are reviews that confirm the ability of the fetus to grow up to one and a half kilograms.
- Heart shape and fleshy consistency.
- At the stage of maturity - raspberry-red color.
- Bright red skin with a slight sourness in a great rich taste.
- Average filling level of dry matter, and nests with seeds - not less than four.
- Medium density and ribbing.
- Storage duration.
Sevruga tomatoes are also positively known for their resistance to vegetable diseases. It is recommended only to provide measures for the treatment of your garden with insecticidal preparations on time.
About the rules of growing a crop
The Sevryuga tomato also has an indisputable plus: they can be grown in any part of the Russian land. The appearance of the first results of the variety may already coincide with the initial stage of the appearance of early maturing tomatoes under appropriate conditions.
It is preferable to sow seeds about a couple of months before their expected appearance in open ground, but two and a half is better for full-fledged seedlings. If you plan to plant it in a greenhouse environment, then place no more than three individuals on one square meter, and up to four to form one stem.
The best time to sow will be February or March.
After sowing, the seed begins to sprout after about seven days. Seedlings should be strengthened and dived. In the process of growing seedlings, it is advised to carry out seedling watering in a moderate way. If the seedlings are placed in greenhouse conditions after May 15, then the tomato will already grow in early summer. Placing seedlings in the fresh air or on a balcony will help to harden it.
The seedling hole must contain superphosphate. Each small culture involves deepening into the hole and active hilling. Then additional roots will appear, which will have a beneficial effect on the more active growth of tomatoes. If the soil is unprotected, then the seedlings should take their place when no frost is expected.
Steps when caring for a tomato
In order for the culture to grow well and develop in the right way, it should be provided with decent watering and enough nutritious feeding. We regularly water: do not allow the bush soil to dry out. This is especially true for the cultivation of this tomato variety in the southern regions. On the other hand, over-watering will also affect plants in a negative way.
Fertilizers for tomatoes should also be applied to the soil. Complexes using nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus are recommended. This should be done every two weeks.
Application of "Pudovik"
The fruits of Pudovik tomatoes are used both for fresh consumption and in the cooked state. They are the basis for vegetable salads, various gravies, sauces, preserves, preparations. Tomatoes have excellent taste, and the pulp is juicy and soft. Some housewives use this variety to make natural juice.
