Description of the variety of tomato Siberian apple, characteristics and productivity
Not so long ago, Russian breeders bred a tomato hybrid, the fruits of which are surprisingly similar in appearance to apples. In addition, the Siberian Apple tomato is also famous for its unusually pleasant taste.
Features of the hybrid
"Siberian Apple" is a mid-season variety of the indeterminate type. A distinctive feature of the hybrid is its high yield. Begins to bear fruit in 110-120 days after germination.
Description of the variety:
- plants with unlimited growth, in height can reach 1.5-2.5 m;
- leaves are large, green, dissected;
- inflorescences are simple, stalk without articulation;
- ovary forms well;
- yield up to 9 kg per 1 sq. m;
- tomato has high protective properties against most viruses and diseases.
Fruit characteristics:
- rounded shape, reminiscent of an apple;
- tomatoes are not very large, weight ranges from 100 to 200 grams;
- the skin is dense and smooth;
- inside from 4 to 6 segments;
- the pulp is fleshy, juicy, sugar;
- rich taste and aroma;
- even in an unripe form, they are more like apples than tomatoes: at first they are light light green, then they begin to turn intensely pink. As a result, pearl-pink apple-tomatoes flaunt on the bushes.
Tomatoes fully ripen on bushes, retain their presentation for a long time, lie well and are resistant to mechanical damage during transportation. Tomatoes of the Siberian Apple variety are widely used in cooking: from salads to canning.
Growing and care
The Siberian Apple variety is recommended for growing in greenhouses, but in the more southern regions of Russia it feels quite comfortable in unprotected soil.
- Sowing seeds for seedlings is carried out from late March to early April. The seeds are pre-soaked for a couple of days, and the soil is disinfected.
- With heap sowing, after the appearance of the first pair of true leaves, the sprouts should be dived into different pots or cups. For the formation of a powerful root system, it is recommended to bury the sprouts almost to the cotyledon leaves when picking.
- A week after the pick, it is recommended to fertilize with complex fertilizers. In total, you need to make 2-3 top dressing before planting in the ground.
- 7-10 days before transplanting for permanent residence, the shoots must be hardened so that they can more easily endure the adaptation period.
- Planting in greenhouses and greenhouses can be made from mid-May, but in open ground not earlier than early June, when the soil warms up and the threat of frost has passed.
- Planting scheme - 70x40 or no more than three plants per 1 sq. m.
- Tomatoes will give a greater yield if bushes are formed into two stems during the growth process.
- Tall plants need a garter.
Growing tomatoes is not so difficult if you are serious about choosing a variety, study the description and reviews, and then provide the plants with proper care.
