Tomato King Giant ix f1 is a relatively young variety, but has already been tried by gardeners in both the southern and northern regions of our country, which makes it possible to illuminate this issue from aspects of different latitudes. Bred by Russian breeders in 2010, the new species of giant tomatoes has proven to be a hardworking, but quite whimsical variety, highly dependent on sunlight and light. For this reason, those wishing to grow crops in the middle or northern part of our country will have to acquire spacious greenhouses with artificial lighting.
Description of the variety
The height of an individual tomato bush can reach 180 cm, but the fragile stem is clearly not designed for such growth, so tying the plant up as it grows is necessary... Ovaries, which begin to form on the brush immediately after the release of the 9th permanent leaflet, appear about 115 days from the moment the seedling is planted, which indicates the early maturity of the variety.
Ripe tomatoes fully justify their name - the average fruits weigh about 0.5 kg, and the most pronounced ones, located in the lower part of the bush, calmly ripen to a weight of 0.8 - 1 kg. However, it is not so much the quality and weight of an individual tomato that is responsible for the yield, but the number of ovaries. Brushes throughout the bush are quite densely arranged - after 3-4 leaves. They even call a figure indicating the yield from one bush - up to 8 kg of fruits, but the reviews of most gardeners suggest that this value is overestimated.
With good care, the real yield reaches 10 kg of fruits from 1 m2, that is, from two cluster units.
The characteristics of the fruits are impressive - tomatoes, when fully ripe, become kumachy in color, the shape is flattened at the stalk and below. Taste - sweetish, with not expressed sourness, when overripe - sugary. The fruit has a very characteristic, rich pulp, divided into 6-8 chambers.

Overriding, the Giant King tomatoes quickly lose their appearance and burst. More often than not, this cannot be avoided by over-watering.
The subtleties of proper care for seedlings
It is advisable to grow tomato seedlings King of Giants on your own, from seeds purchased from a trusted seller and having a shelf life of no more than two years. When buying, you need to ask if the planting material has been treated against fungal infections and insect pests, and, if not, carry out this treatment at home using a manganese solution. You should not leave the seeds in the solution for more than half an hour, and even more so, you do not need to follow the advice to leave them there for 24 hours, even if a neighbor in the country grew not a single generation of tomatoes in this way.
For germination, only settled warm water without additives is used.
As a soil, standard black soil for indoor flowers, which is sold in gardening stores, is suitable, as a container - seedling boxes or peat pots... Seeds are sown at a distance of 2 cm from each other to a depth of 0.5 cm. The pick is made only after the 3rd leaf.
Before being planted in greenhouses, the King of Giants tomatoes undergo a weekly hardening - the boxes are taken out onto the balcony or placed in front of an open window, first for half an hour, then for one and a half, increasing the time to five hours a day. Giant tomatoes must not only be fed, but also kept in constant tone by the neighborhood with crops that have a beneficial effect on the soil. These include: sorrel, cabbage, parsley and dill. A good harvest will be achieved by a hostess who planted tomatoes next to cucumbers.
As a top dressing, tomatoes of large varieties like superphosphate and nitroammophoska, but you can also use water-diluted organics and nettle infusion. The main thing is to work out a feeding scheme from the very beginning and adhere to it carefully. It is equally important to observe the loosening time, which can be built in this way - after two waterings on the third.
Pests and diseases
Of insects, gardeners are especially afraid of the whitefly, since the activity of this pest leads to the death of the entire bush. The composition of the "Confidor" agent is capable of interrupting her feast and forcing her to leave the greenhouse, and very little is required - no more than 1 ml per 10-liter bucket of water. All plants are treated as a whole. Even if only one of them is affected, or there is a suspicion of the presence of a pest. The specified amount of finished products is enough to process 100 m2 closed greenhouse.
