Description of the Werner tomato variety, its characteristics and yield

Werner tomato hybrid bred by Dutch breeders. It is suitable for outdoor use. But it is also successfully grown in film greenhouses. This is an early ripe beef tomato. It bears excellent fruit even in the northern regions.

Characteristic

This hybrid tomato has an optimal combination of plant vigor with early maturity and relatively large fruits. The height of the bushes is no more than 70 cm (determinant tomato species), they have a small foliage.

Ripening of tomatoes occurs approximately 90 days after the appearance of the first shoots. The weight of one Werner tomato can reach 240–280 g, and in some cases - 300 g. Weather conditions have only a slight negative impact on the quantity and quality of the formed ovary.

The fruit has a deep pink color, and the taste is quite high. On a 10-point scale, this hybrid has 9 points. They do not have the usual acid inherent in many representatives of this type of vegetables. The sugar structure of the fruit is most organically suitable for eating fresh Werner tomatoes, for adding to salads, as well as for making juices, pasta or ketchup.

hybrid view

Tomatoes are flat-round in shape. From above, they are covered with a rather dense skin. This circumstance prevents its cracking under unfavorable irrigation regime (insufficient or too abundant irrigation). As noted by the reviews - the plant is highly resistant to disease.

Landing rules

Tomato seeds are sown in containers for growing seedlings no earlier than March. Before sowing, seeds must be treated with special means, and then they are disinfected. A weak manganese solution is used for this purpose. The seeds are immersed in a slightly warm liquid for a quarter of an hour, and then placed in a solution of Epin for 12 hours, having previously studied its description. Seeds prepared in this way are planted in containers with soil.

taste qualities

Temperature conditions are of great importance when growing seedlings:

  1. The containers with the planted seeds are left in a room with a temperature of + 23-24 ⁰С.
  2. After the emergence of seedlings, the container with plants is brought into the room, where the temperature is from +20 to +23 degrees.

At this time, diffused sunlight is more suitable for the plant. Direct rays can burn delicate seedlings.

important value

Dive

2 weeks after the emergence of sprouts, a dive is carried out (transplanting the plants removed from the soil into a new container). By this time, the plants should have at least 2 true leaves. This procedure helps to enlarge the root system. As a result, the plant will be able to receive additional nutrition and water from the soil.

The plant is transplanted into separate peat pots or into a large container, but the distance between the seedlings is about 5 cm. The seedling deepens to the first cotyledon leaf.

After diving tomatoes and their survival, containers with seedlings can be taken out into the open air, provided that the temperature is not lower than + 8 degrees.

sprouting

Planting in open ground

By the time of planting on open beds, the plant must be at least 2 months old. The distance between the plants in a row is 50 cm, and the row spacing is from 70 cm to 1 meter. To protect plants from fungal infections, the soil on the garden bed is pretreated with a solution of copper oxychloride (1 tbsp. L. Per bucket of water).

Reviews

Vladislav, 43 years old: “Like other hybrids, Werner f1 tomato always has friendly shoots. After transplanting into open ground, the seedlings quickly took root. There were no problems with diseases. The taste of the fruits was also unexpected. It practically does not yield to the taste of elite varieties of tomatoes ”.

Maria Petrovna, 64 years old: “Every year I plant a couple of new varieties of tomatoes. On the advice of a neighbor, Werner bought tomato seeds. It turned out that they are easy to grow, and they taste tender. I didn’t like their thick skin, but it didn’t interfere with cutting salads ”.
