Description and characteristics of grapes varieties Dubovsky pink, pros and cons
The unusual appearance and excellent taste of the new grape variety Dubovskiy pink quickly gained popularity among winegrowers. This happened largely due to the fact that this variety is unpretentious, and when breeding it, no special skills are required. Its cultivation is within the power of even a novice gardener. It attracts experienced winegrowers with its high yield.
The history of the creation of the variety
A hybrid variety of table grapes obtained by an amateur of experiments in the field of selection Gusev S.E. from the village of Dubovka, Volgograd region. The new hybrid, which got its name from the name of the village, was the result of crossing two varieties widely known in these places - Delight Red and Yubiley Novocherkassk.
Features of the variety
The brush sizes of Dubovsky pink grapes are gigantic. Its weight reaches 1.5 kilograms. The bunches are conical in shape, with a disheveled appearance. The weight of one berry is about 20 grams. Its shape resembles a cone with a curved tip. Ripe fruits are dark pink in color.
The pulp, although juicy, is still crispy. There are no more than two seeds per fruit. The bunch holds the berry firmly, and even after long transportation it looks as if it has just been separated from the vine.
The description of the variety will not be complete without mentioning the fact that the berry, growing to a significant size, continues to remain green for a long time. However, this should not worry the gardener. When the time is right, it will quickly change from green to deep pink. This happens over a period of several days.
This grape variety tolerates long droughts or, conversely, heavy rains. The plant is able to withstand winter frosts down to -23 degrees.
Advantages and disadvantages of the variety
This variety has not been sufficiently studied yet, and that small statistics on diseases, reactions to weather anomalies continues to be replenished with new data. But today we can confidently say that it is different:
- great taste;
- large bunches and berries;
- unpretentiousness;
- high yield.
The disadvantages of this variety can only be attributed to the need for rationing the harvest.
Landing rules
The process of planting Dubovsky grapes is practically no different from other varieties. It is better to plant grapes in spring.
The ideal place for planting grapes would be the south side of the house or solid fence. If this space is already taken, you can put a screen or dense fence in the east-west direction.
If planted in a newly prepared hole, its depth should be 35 centimeters, taking into account the likelihood of future soil subsidence.Experienced growers prepare the soil for spring planting in the fall. At this time, the landing pits are buried 40 centimeters. The easiest way to measure the required depth is with an ordinary stick with a mark of 35 or 40 centimeters.
For table grape varieties, the distance between the bushes must be at least 1.5 meters. Between the rows - 2.5 meters.
It is recommended to plant grapes on a specially prepared hill, while placing the buds of the cutting along the vertical support. This method will save the grower from having to constantly tie up the vine.
A layer of fertile soil is added around the planted plant, and then watered abundantly. To retain moisture, the soil is mulched.
Care features
For the first three years, the vineyard requires special attention. After heavy rains or heavy watering, as soon as the soil dries out from above, it must be loosened. This agrotechnical technique performs three functions at once:
- weed control;
- aeration of the soil;
- moisture retention.
Starting from the fourth year, the vineyard no longer requires frequent watering, as the root system becomes more developed. From now on, one should not forget about autumn pruning. It prevents thickening of the shrub and ensures the proper development of the vine. Pruning, in extreme cases, can be done in the spring, but then this should be done before the start of active sap flow.
Breeding
The easiest way to grow grapes is with cuttings. Moreover, this method is the least expensive in comparison with others.
Cuttings are harvested during the autumn pruning of the vineyard. For this, the middle part of summer shoots is used, from among those that have already fruited. The method of vegetative propagation (by cuttings) retains all the taste qualities of the berry.
