Anet F1 eggplants are produced in Holland, and this variety is not more than twenty years old. And this means that, in fact, this is not a variety either - a hybrid that gives absolutely unpredictable results in the second generation. It is best to buy it in stores, but not with hands, and after reading reviews and consulting with people who have already dealt with it.
Description of the plant and fruit
The Anet bush has the following characteristics:
- height - up to one and a half meters, it does not grow higher;
- bushiness - medium, the bush is collected, does not spread in breadth;
- fruits - standard for eggplants, dark purple thin skin, light pulp, no traces of bitterness.
The length of the fruit is up to 25 centimeters. You can grow more, but then they will be bitter and there will be no benefit from them.
Characteristics of the variety
Anet is intended for cultivation in Russia and Ukraine. At the same time, it grows in two versions:
- outdoors - only in the southern regions, where the temperature in summer does not drop below fourteen degrees, even at night;
- in greenhouses - in the northern regions, where cold winds, rain and falling temperatures are considered a natural course of things.
The characteristics of the variety are as follows:
- yield - average, up to four kilos can be removed from one square meter;
- frost resistance - absent, if the temperature drops, the planting will freeze;
- resistance to diseases and pests - high, it was for this characteristic that Anet was originally bred;
- commercial quality - high, nine out of ten fruits can be sent for sale;
- early harvest - eggplant can be harvested 70 days after planting.
Due to the average yield, Anet is usually planted in small farms where the crop will be used either for retail or personal use. Large farms prefer time-tested and 100% yielding varieties.
Advantages and disadvantages
Anet has the following advantages:
- easy to transport - this is important if you are going to sell the crop;
- good taste - especially if you do not overexpose the eggplant on the bush;
- stability - rarely gets sick;
- the yield is sufficient to meet the needs of one family;
- bears fruit from early summer until frost, gradually.
There are two disadvantages.Firstly, it will not work to reproduce Anet on your own - no one will undertake to predict what will come out of the seeds obtained from homemade eggplants. Secondly, for the northern regions it is better to choose varieties that are more resistant to frost. Otherwise, you will have to spend time, effort and money on the construction of a greenhouse.
How to properly grow eggplant
Like most eggplants, Anet is not particularly whimsical.
Landing dates
Given the size of Russia, it would be foolish to give unambiguous recommendations. You should look not by the date on the calendar, but by the temperature outside.
To germinate - or take root - Anet needs sunny weather and temperatures of fourteen degrees or more. If frosts hit in the first two weeks, the crop will die.
Therefore, the end of April and the whole of May are considered optimal for planting, depending on what weather prevails in the area where you live.
Sowing seeds
Before sowing seeds in the soil, they need to be prepared. Anet is often sold already mixed with a growth stimulant, therefore it is better to check this question with the seller.
If there is no growth simulator, the following steps will be required:
- germination check - seeds are lowered into the water and only those that have gone to the bottom are selected;
- warming up - you can put a saucer with them on the battery, or you can put it on a cloth filled with warm water;
- disinfection - it is best if it is potassium permanganate, but you can use other compounds, for example, aloe juice;
- growth stimulant - it can be ash, the same aloe juice, or something from a gardening store.
If there is a growth stimulator on the seeds, then you can proceed to the next step of the plan just like this. And the next step is germination. The seeds settle on a soft, damp cloth and keep warm and dark until they germinate.
When they have persistent roots, they can be planted in containers - one seed at a time. The soil usually consists of humus, turf and sand.
How to care for seedlings
In order for the seedlings to grow strong, she will need:
- water - you need to water it regularly, with warm water, so that the soil is always slightly moist;
- light - it is better to buy a fluorescent lamp and illuminate the seedlings with it;
- warmth - from twenty-five in the daytime, from thirteen at night;
- top dressing - standard fertilizer is suitable, but in small quantities.
Before planting seedlings, they need to be hardened - taken out for two weeks to fresh air and left there for a couple of hours.
Soil preparation
The land should be light, without high acidity, in a sunny place where the cold north wind does not blow. In the fall, it is worth adding organic fertilizer to it, and bury hay or sawdust before planting - they increase the chance that the eggplants will not freeze.
Seedling planting rules
Seedlings are planted simply:
- holes break out - at a distance of 40 centimeters from each other, the rows are separated by at least 60 centimeters, the depth is not more than 15 cm;
- warm water is poured into each hole - about a glass;
- the soil is rolled into the resulting mud along with the eggplants;
- sprinkled on top with earth and peat.
Watering the seedlings for the first two weeks is necessary often so that the water is always moist.

They are watered twice a week, the water should be heated in the sun and pour out clearly under the root.
You need three fertilizing - two weeks after planting in the ground, when the first flowers appear and when you are going to remove the first fruits. Fit for her phosphorus and potash fertilizers, bird droppings, slurry. The main thing is not too much and do not fall on the leaves. Fertilizers can damage them.
Loosening and weeding
The roots need to breathe, so loosening must be carried out after each watering so that the earth does not bake into a hard crust.Do this carefully, trying not to hurt the roots. Don't dig too deep, don't dig too far - there will be enough earth within a radius of fifteen centimeters.
You need to loosen it at about the same frequency. The weeds should not grow high or the shade will get in the way of the eggplant.

Collection and storage
