Instructions for the use of Stellar herbicide, mechanism of action and consumption rates
The herbicidal agent "Stellar" belongs to the class of highly effective formulations. This water-soluble concentrate works against annual and biennial dicotyledonous weeds that damage cereals. It can also be used to control weeds in corn crops.

Composition, release form and purpose of the drug
The main feature of the Stellar herbicide is the use of a new active ingredient - triketone. It has a systemic effect, dropping into the plant in various ways. It is absorbed not only by the leaves, as is often the case with other drugs, but also by the roots, shoots and other parts. Also in the composition of the product there is dicamba, which has been recognized for many years as an active substance for combating broadleaf plants, as well as toprameson, which expands the possibility of the first component.
The product is produced in a large canister of 10 liters. Manufacturer - BASF. Registration at the state level is valid for the herbicide until 2014.
Stellar herbicide is used to kill various types of weeds. It copes quite effectively with the following weeds:
- ambrosia wormwood;
- Mary white;
- crabgrass;
- seta;
- millet, including chicken;
- field bindweed;
- field thistle;
- sunflower carrion;
- rape.
Effective for both annual and biennial plants.
The principle of action of the herbicide "Stellar"
The principle of the integrated action of the Stellar herbicide is based on the action of its main components. In particular, dicamba regulates the processes taking place in the leaves and roots (if there is enough moisture). After the weed enters the body, dicamba begins to move to the phloem and xylem. As a result, it decomposes the synthesis process, suppression occurs. Also dicamba destroys hormonal balance. As a result of the systemic destructive effect of the drug, weed cells stop dividing, oxygen does not flow.
Topramezon works in a different way. It suppresses not individual organisms, but biotypes as a whole. In particular, it is now actively used to destroy weeds that have already developed immunity to herbicides of other groups, for example, based on acetolactate inhibitors. Topramezon also enters the plant in various ways, but most of all it is absorbed by the young leaves of the plant.
In general, the complex effect of the two toxic substances leads to a slowdown in growth or its complete stop after 2 days. But the complete destruction of the plant (drying, yellow color) will be only after 1-2 weeks (depending on weather conditions, including the level of humidity).
Advantages over analogues
The herbicide "Stellar" is used in agriculture most actively now and has practically no competitors. This is due to a number of its advantages:
- excellent selectivity;
- can only be processed once during the entire ripening period of the plant;
- there are no additional restrictive measures in crop rotation;
- copes with both young plants and those that have reached maturity;
- relatively safe for the environment;
- is produced in a large convenient container, easily diluted with water;
- copes with almost all dicotyledonous weeds;
- effective in weed control in all climates.
As you can see from the list, Stellar herbicide is really effective. It is this property, combined with a relatively low price and safety, that determines its popularity.
Consumption rate
Depending on the maturity of the weeds, one to one and a half liters of undiluted herbicide may be required. And the working solution is used per hectare from 300 to 350 liters.
Preparation of working solution
In order for the composition to show efficiency and not harm corn and other plants, the rules for preparing the solution must be observed. It is done like this:
- half of the tank is filled with water at room temperature;
- the mixer turns on;
- add herbicide;
- pour the composition to the end of the tank, without ceasing to mix;
- after the herbicide is completely dissolved in clean water, an adhesive is added there.
Next, you need to strongly stir the resulting working fluid - at least 3 minutes.
Instructions for using the ready-mixed mixture
For corn, it is required to take from 1 to 1.5 liters per hectare of plants. Treatment comes from annuals as well as some biennial pests. Including destroyed after exposure to the herbicide and resistant to 2.4 D weeds, annual cereals.
Processing takes place in the initial phase of corn growth - up to the fifth leaf. At the same time, the herbicide is supplemented with a special adhesive "Dash" (no more than five percent of the total composition will be needed).
Safety rules for use
To protect yourself from harmful fumes, you need to prepare. Used to protect:
- bathrobe;
gloves; - mask.
The hazard class for humans is the second. The hazard class for bees is the third. It is not allowed to use the herbicide "Stellar" in the area of water protection zones of reservoirs - it harms some fish.
Toxicity and compatibility
The main difference between the Stellar herbicide and hormonal herbicides is that it does not cause toxicity.
There are some restrictions on crop rotation. It is not allowed for at least 18 months to sow soybeans, sugar beets or peas at the site of exposure to herbicides. No phytotoxicity is observed in Stellar.
How and how much can you store?
Undiluted and carefully packaged in an airtight container, Stellar herbicide can be stored for several years - it will not lose its properties. But at the same time, the already opened or the working solution itself must be used immediately, to prevent weathering of the components of the composition.
Canisters that have not yet been opened are stored in a cool and dark place. Avoid direct sunlight.
What are the analogues?
It is possible to replace the Stellar herbicide with preparations similar in active substances and spectrum of action:
- "Bob BT";
- Bazagran;
- Bazagran M;
- Dual Gold.
Stellar is highly effective. Plant habituation is not observed when used correctly.
