Composition and form of release of herbicide Stomp
There are two types of remedy:
- 33% emulsion concentrate (EC) 330 EC (contains 330g / l pendimethalin). The tool is currently not in use because the license expired in 2017.
- 45.5% microencapsulated suspension Professional (455 g / l pendimethalin). More efficient than CE, the license is valid until 2022 (there may be an extension).
All presented recommendations refer specifically to the Professional.
Advantages and disadvantages
The benefits of the herbicide include:
- It is good at destroying weeds in weekend vegetable gardens - relatively well-groomed, but irregularly cultivated areas.
- Belongs to the third class of danger, harmless to people and bees.
- Fights various types of weed annuals.
- A single treatment is enough.
- It decomposes almost completely in the soil; various types of crops can be planted on the cultivated area.
- It is able to fight not only weeds, but also insect pests.
- Long duration, so weeding is no longer necessary.
However, the drug Stomp also has disadvantages:
- It will not help if the site is new, very overgrown or has not been processed for a long time. Powerless against the abundance of wheatgrass and quinoa.
- The best effect is achieved on light, humus-rich soils. Does not work on peat, gley, silty soils, floodplain meadows.
- Sensitive to weather conditions: rainfall will help to destroy all weeds, without them, productivity is reduced.
How the drug removes weeds
The active active ingredient is pendimethalin, the features of which are as follows:
- Subsequent after treatment for 14 days, the substance is distributed over the soil layer in which the weed seeds are located.
- When weeds germinate, active work begins, the drug penetrates into plant seedlings, interfering with DNA synthesis.
- The cells lose the ability to divide, as a result of which the seedling dies.
Important! If there are already seedlings of weeds, Stomp treatment should be carried out before the development of two true leaves (in dicotyledonous plants) or the first pair of leaves (for cereals).
Protective spectrum
It helps protect the following plants:
- carrot;
- tomatoes;
- onion;
- peas;
- potatoes;
- cabbage;
- beans;
- garlic;

- Monocots: annual bluegrass, chicken millet, blizzard.
- Dicotyledons: woodlice, highlander, chamomile, black nightshade, field violet, forget-me-not, veronica.
The effect on biennials is less effective, however, Stomp helps to reduce the number of field biennials and shepherd's purse on the site.
Consumption rates depending on the type of crops grown
The dosage of the drug depends on what kind of culture will be processed. Information about the norms is presented in the table:
Plant | Consumption, l / ha |
Potatoes | 5 |
Corn, carrots, tomatoes, cabbage, sunflower, garlic, soy | 3-6 |
Onions, parsley | 2,5-4,5 |
The maximum dosage is used for poor clay soil, the minimum for light nutritious.
Important! Herbicide treatment should be carried out a certain number of days before harvest:
- carrots, sunflower - 50;
- garlic, cabbage - 40;
- tomatoes - 35;
- potatoes - 30 days;
- peas - 25.
