Description of the Borisych cucumber variety, its characteristics and yield
Cucumber Borisych f1 belongs to a variety of mid-early parthenocarpic hybrids. From the moment the first shoots appear, an average of 45 to 50 days pass. In average Russian regions, the harvest is taken from June to August. The variety is considered to be a high-yielding crop type intended for outdoor cultivation and in film shelters. The species has gained wide popularity not only in our country, but also in the territories of other states. The variety is actively cultivated in farmsteads of Moldovan and Ukrainian farmers.
Garden culture is distinguished by the female type of inflorescences. Powerful shoots are able to provide the plant and fruits with a sufficient amount of nutrients. The height of the bushes in greenhouse cultivation reaches 2.5 meters. When planting in open ground, the indicator may be slightly lower. The plant is considered sparsely growing, which greatly facilitates care due to the small amount of green mass formed.
Today, the quality of seed material and yield indicators are confirmed by the state inspection. On the Russian market, seeds are on sale in specialized stores and are sold in the form of small bags with seeds weighing 0.3 grams.
Benefits of the variety
The plant has strong shoots that can withstand difficult growing conditions and a large number of cucumber fruits. Reviews of gardeners highlight the following description of the benefits of the variety:
- high yield rates;
- excellent taste of vegetables;
- lack of bitterness even in ripe fruits;
- the ability to maintain the richness of taste during storage;
- pronounced cucumber aroma, which gives salads an unusual piquancy of taste;
- stress resistance;
- high immunity to the main diseases of cucumber crops.
The plant perfectly withstands the invasion of cucumber mosaic, powdery mildew. Its good stress tolerance makes the variety suitable for growing not only by experienced but also beginner growers. Due to the fact that the fruits are not diminutive, the main direction of the variety is considered to be used in salads.
What fruits does the plant produce?
The cucumber variety produces neat, elongated fruits. The average length of one cucumber varies from 18 to 20 cm. Vegetables have a characteristic dark green color and a pimply surface of the rind, on which there are many tubercles with small white thorns. The average weight of one cucumber is from 170 to 180 grams.
The cylindrical pulp is distinguished by its delicate structure and juiciness. Some fruits may have subtle stripes on the surface of the peel.Due to its sweetish taste, cucumbers are popular with children and adults.
The horticultural culture is characterized by a good rate of fruit ovary and in one node, on average, 2 to 3 cucumbers are formed. The characteristics of the yield indicators of the variety are considered high and from 1 m2 get up to 19 kg of vegetables. In conditions of street cultivation, indicators may be slightly lower and vary from 15 to 16 kg per 1 m2.
Features of agricultural cultivation
Growing is most often carried out from seed by direct planting into the ground. To get an early harvest in regions with an insufficient amount of warm ones, planting is practiced using a seedling method. In open ground, sowing is carried out when the soil reaches a temperature of 8 to 15 ⁰C.
The soil must be rich and fertile, for which enrichment is carried out with manure, peat, and mineral fertilizers. Immediately before planting, the places of future holes are spilled with warm water and the seeds are deepened to a distance of 1.5 to 2 cm. The recommended planting scheme is 50 by 50 cm. At first, it is recommended to form a film cover, which is removed after the first shoots appear.
When growing by the seedling method, the time of working with the planting material is determined so that by the time of planting the seedlings have reached an age of 20 to 25 days and have from 3 to 5 true leaves. The optimal time for disembarkation is mid-May, when the threat of frost has been reduced to zero.
Plant care does not have any special specific requirements. The cultivation technique consists in periodically removing the green mass, loosening, watering the soil and applying mineral fertilizers. Warm water is used to moisten the soil, otherwise the yield indicators may be reduced.
