Depending on the diagnosis, the veterinarian will prescribe one or another treatment. To quickly cope with pathology, it is recommended to strictly adhere to the recommendations of a specialist. Compliance with the rules of prevention is of no small importance.
Types of skin diseases in pigs and methods of their treatment
Today, many dermatological pathologies are known that occur in pigs. To cope with violations, it is recommended to make an accurate diagnosis in time.
Dermatitis
Animals of any age are susceptible to this pathology. The disease often develops in winter and spring. The reason may be tightness in the pigsty. The skin becomes inflamed after traumatic injury and secondary infection of the affected fragment. Infection with erysipelas or anthrax leads to the problem.
With acute dermatitis, the hairline is erased, the skin turns red, and pain appears in the affected area. When an infection is attached, pus is released from the affected area. Complex forms of pathology negatively affect the general condition. To cure the pathology, it is recommended to eliminate the underlying disease. In case of traumatic injury, lotions are made based on Furacilin. Ointments - Tetracycline or Prednisolone can also be used.
Scabies
This pathology is provoked by mites that parasitize the skin. They feed on the cells of the epidermis and lay eggs in its structure. Scabies can be ear or total scabies. With the development of the disease, redness, gray-white crusts appear on the body of the animal. After a while, ticks affect the entire body, thickening of the skin is observed, a brown shade of crusts appears.
With scabies, pigs become aggressive. If you do not take action, there is a risk of death. To cope with the disease, it is worth using ointments, injections, aerosols. Doramectin and Ivermectin are effective agents. For the treatment to be effective, before using any drug from the tick, it is worth wiping the animal with soapy water and removing the crusts.
Ringworm
With this disease, the dermis is damaged by fungi and spores. The disease occurs in all animals. Moreover, young pigs are more susceptible to it.
The disease is transmitted by contact. Ringworm within a month can be latent. Over time, lichen areas form on the animal's body.
It is recommended to isolate the infected animal immediately. For therapy, it is worth using a special vaccine, which is prescribed by a veterinarian.
Furunculosis
This pathology is provoked by staphylococci. When injected into the hair follicle, they provoke purulent inflammation, which is accompanied by the formation of a painful boil. The cause of the problem may be a lack of vitamins or poor hygiene. With the development of pathology, the affected areas should be treated with iodine solution or brilliant green. Paraffin is also considered an effective remedy.
Erysipelas
Infection with bacterial microorganisms is believed to be the cause of this dangerous disease. It is accompanied by the development of sepsis. This condition is characterized by fever, metabolic disorders at the tissue level, dystrophic and necrotic processes in tissues. The disease can be fatal.
Red spots appear in the pig 2-3 days after infection. In mild cases, necrotic foci form in their place, and after 10-12 days the pig recovers. In difficult situations, the animal dies without adequate assistance. Antibiotic therapy is considered the main method of treatment. Also, a special serum is administered to a sick animal. To improve the prognosis, it is worth introducing a lot of vitamins and proteins into the diet.
Vesicular disease
This is a viral pathology, which is characterized by an acute course. It develops after infection with enterovirus. When a pig is affected, it develops a pronounced fever, and a rash appears on the skin, bubbles filled with a clear liquid.
The first symptoms appear several days after infection. In this case, the ears, nipples of females, limbs are covered with small bubbles. If the nervous system is damaged, there is a risk of death. There is no specific therapy for pathology. If the disease develops, you should contact your veterinarian. Vaccination is recommended to prevent disease.
