Description of the tomato variety Neptune and its characteristics
Tomato Neptune is a hybrid variety. A sufficient number of tomatoes are tied on a small compact bush. The size of the plant allows owners of small plots or greenhouses to grow a hybrid.
Some features of the variety
The plant is sensitive to moisture levels, warm dry air is optimal conditions for growth. The hybrid is genetically resistant to diseases:
- septoriasis;
- alternaria, anthracnose;
- TMV.
The susceptibility to late blight is average.
Geographically distributed in all regions of the Russian Federation, Ukraine. Regions of admission according to the state register of the Russian Federation: Volgo-Vyatka and Central region (open ground).
Determinant type of growth. The height of the bush is about 70 cm. The plants are powerful, not standard. The foliage is light green, slightly corrugated. The first inflorescence is formed after 5-6 leaves, then after 1-2. Tomatoes are early ripe, in greenhouses 80 days pass from germination to ripeness, in open ground - 98 days. Characteristics and description of the fruits of the tomato variety Neptune:
- rounded and flat-rounded in shape, red, smooth;
- weight 100-110 g;
- high transportability and keeping quality;
- yield from 1 sq. m in a greenhouse - up to 13 kg, without shelter - up to 7 kg.
The taste of the Neptune f1 hybrid is good. 100 g of the product contains:
- sugar up to 5%;
- dry matter 5.4–6.1%;
- ascorbic acid 23.5–23.7%;
Recommended agricultural technique
The site for planting is selected with a neutral or slightly acidic ph level (6-6.7). Eliminate the possibility of flooding and stagnant water. Tomato variety Neptune will grow well on a southern slope, sheltered from the wind.
The beds are prepared in the fall. For 1 sq. m of area contribute:
- Organic matter 9–10 kg (rotted manure, compost).
- Phosphorus-potassium supplements 20 g.
In the spring - nitrogen-containing fertilizers (10 g per 1 sq. M). Before the winter season, the soil is dug deeply, and with the onset of heat, it is loosened several times.
Seedlings are transferred to the ground at the age of 55-60 days. For 1 sq. m planted up to 9 plants, as the compact form of the bushes allows. Leave 40 cm between the plants.
During planting, 50-100 g of sifted wood ash with superphosphate (1 tsp) are poured into each hole. Saplings are buried in, the soil around the trunk circle is mulched and watered abundantly. The first root dressing of Neptune tomatoes is obtained 14 days after planting. All stepchildren under the lower flowering brush are removed from the plant.
Harvesting
An improved analogue of the hybrid variety is presented in the seed catalogs - Neptune f1 plus. It has similar characteristics. It is considered more resistant to outdoor conditions and major diseases.
In an early ripe hybrid, all ripe fruits are removed before early August. Harvest tomatoes that have just begun to turn brown. The harvest will ripen within 10-15 days in a sunny place.Such tomatoes will not differ in taste from those that are fully ripe on the bushes.
On determinant early ripening varieties, signs of wilting appear already in early August. Many consider this to be the beginning of the disease, in fact, it is a natural process. In the open field, the bushes are completely dug out when the air temperature drops below +8 ° C.
At the end of the season, all plant residues are removed from the beds. The soil is dug up, green manure plants are planted. Reviews of gardeners agree that the Neptune hybrid is a problem-free tomato in growing.
