Description and characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of the Bogatyanovsky grape variety, cultivation rules
Bogatyanovskiy grapes for table use differs from many similar varieties. The hybrid variety has larger berries with higher flavor characteristics. The variety combines the best properties of the parent plant pair.
The history of hybrid breeding
The Bogatyanovsky variety was bred by an amateur breeder V.N.Krainov from the Kuban. Grapes are classified as table hybrids. For breeding used varieties Talisman and Radiant Kishmish.
Pros and cons of the variety
When planning to grow grapes, it is recommended that you first study the pros and cons of the hybrid variety. The list of positive characteristics of the variety includes:
- stable yield;
- balance of sugar and acidity indicators;
- good survival rate of cuttings;
- complete ripening of shoots;
- resistance to temperature extremes and frost.
The disadvantages of Bogatyanovsky grapes are: the average indicator of resistance to diseases and the pulp with a slightly liquid structure. Also a negative characteristic is the need for yields rationing.
Biological description
Bushes of the Bogatyanovsky variety are medium or vigorous. By the functional type, the flowers are bisexual. Shoots ripen steadily along the entire length of the vine. The volume of fruiting shoots is 75-90%.
External parameters
The formed clusters are distinguished by their increased size in comparison with a number of other varieties. The average weight of one bunch varies from 800 g to 1.5 kg. The shape of the brushes is conical, medium density.
Disease resistance varieties
Bogatyanovskiy grapes are moderately resistant to common diseases. To improve the taste of fruits and prevent crop losses, plant nutrition is required.
The beginning of fruiting and yield
The variety belongs to the early maturing and bears the harvest 130-140 days after the intensive awakening of the buds on the bushes.
Taste qualities of fruits
The berries have a thin skin and juicy pulp. Due to the balance of acidity and sugar content, the fruits acquire a pleasant and pronounced taste. Each berry contains 1-3 seeds.In rare cases, the fruits crack during ripening, but this process does not affect the taste.
In which areas does the variety grow
Many years of experience in growing the Bogatyanovsky variety indicates that the grapes take root well in the southern regions of the country and in the middle lane.
In the central part of Russia, the fruits ripen by early September, and in other territories during August.
Planting rules and features of agricultural technology
To grow healthy bushes and get a large harvest, you must follow the rules for planting and growing grapes. It is important to choose a suitable place for planting bushes and pre-prepare the seedlings.
Landing time and scheme
Early spring is suitable for planting grapes of the Bogatyanovsky variety, since the seedlings will have time to take root during the warm season and will not die with the onset of winter. The area chosen for the location of the vineyard should be located in the direction from north to south, so that the bushes are under the sun during the day.
Grape bushes require free formation, so it is recommended to adhere to the standard scheme when planting. The optimal distance between the rows is 2-3 meters, and between the bushes - more than 1.5 m. In the case of unisexuality of the selected seedlings, bushes with female and male inflorescences are planted nearby for mutual pollination and active growth.
Regularity of watering
It is necessary to water the bushes as the earth dries up. Lack of moisture leads to insufficient development and wilting of vines, a decrease in the size of fruits and overgrowth of roots. Excess moisture is also undesirable, since the roots begin to rot and the plants die. An excess amount of liquid washes out nutrient components from the soil and does not allow plants to develop correctly.
Pruning and shaping a fruiting vine
Vineyard pruning is done in spring or autumn. When pruning in the fall, cover the bushes with protective material to protect them from frost. The purpose of pruning and shaping the vines is to give a decorative look, aerate the bushes and reduce thickening. In the process of forming a fruiting vine, dried branches are removed, the amount of foliage is reduced and the long sleeves are cut.
Top dressing
Full development of vines is possible only with complex fertilization. The Bogatyanovsky variety requires the following nutrients:
- Nitrogen. It is responsible for the growth of green mass and is introduced into the soil in the spring, at the early stage of the growing season.
- Phosphorus. Promotes the development of inflorescences and ripening, therefore it is necessary at the beginning of flowering.
- Potassium. At the beginning of autumn, potassium chloride is introduced into the soil to accelerate the ripening process of berries and prepare the bushes for the upcoming frost.
- Copper. Increases plant resistance to drought and low temperatures, activating the growth process.
- Bor. The addition of boric acid to the soil increases the sugar content of the berries and stimulates the germination of pollen.
- Zinc. Zinc-based fertilizing increases the yield and has a positive effect on the stability of fruiting.
Shelter for the winter
Despite the resistance to frost, it is recommended to cover unformed or cut vines with the onset of the first frost. For plant protection, a dense fabric is suitable, which maintains a higher temperature inside, while providing ventilation.
Where are berries used?
The fruits of the Bogatyanovskiy variety are suitable for fresh consumption or freezing. Also berries are used to make wine and juice.
