How to prepare containers
To roll compote for the winter, you will need glass jars with tight-fitting lids. The containers must be thoroughly washed with soap and soda under hot running water. Then they are rinsed, together with the lids, they are placed with the neck down on the grate, under which there is a pot of boiling water.
The container is sterilized in this way for 5-7 minutes, after which the fire is turned off and the dishes are left to cool, without removing, on a wire rack over the steam.
The cooled jars are removed from the wire rack and placed upside down on a clean cloth. The lids are also laid out on the fabric with the inside down.
How to cook raspberry and apple compote
Apples need to be washed, cut in half and cored. Then the fruits are cut into slices.
Raspberries are sorted out and, if necessary, rinsed under running water in a colander. The berries are shaken to remove excess water.
If you plan to drink the compote immediately after preparation, it is prepared in the following way:
- Fruits and berries are placed in a saucepan, covered with water and sugar is added.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat until it boils. After boiling, the drink is boiled for 3 minutes on low heat, closing the pan with a lid so that a gap remains.
- After turning off the heat, close the pan tightly with a lid and infuse the compote for 20 minutes.
To prepare the winter preparation, raspberries and apples are placed on the bottom of the jar, and sugar is dissolved in water and boiled in a saucepan. The resulting syrup is poured into a jar and covered with a lid. The container is placed in a pot of water and sterilized for 7 minutes over low heat. Then it is rolled up and stored.
To make the drink more saturated, you can slightly change the technology of its preparation. Apples and raspberries should be put in a jar, covered with sugar and boiled over to the neck. The solution must be left for 10 minutes to infuse, and then pour into a saucepan and bring to a boil. The boiling water must be poured back into the jar. The container then needs to be closed with a lid, turned upside down, wrapped in a blanket for slow cooling and left overnight at room temperature. After cooling, the container can be turned over.
How to store a treat correctly
Compote in rolled up jars can be stored at room temperature. It is advisable to place it in a cool dark place. The longer the drink stands, the more saturated and concentrated it becomes.
